MY VISION

A funeral is a time to say goodbye, and a time to honour a unique life. I believe that all families should be able to do this in the way they want. Cremation or burial, I deliver person focussed, non religious, semi religious or spiritual ceremonies.

WHAT IS AN INDEPENDENT FUNERAL CELEBRANT?

Traditionally, the role of leading a funeral ceremony has fallen to a member of the clergy.

For those with religious beliefs, this may remain the right option for them. However, in these changing times, many people are in search of an alternative.

An independent funeral celebrant will create and lead a ceremony which celebrates the unique life, values and beliefs of the person who has died, whilst allowing their loved ones to say goodbye in a way that works for them. This may be a non religious service, or one which includes religious or spiritual aspects.

    about me

When my wonderful Mum died after a long illness, a good friend of mine offered her services as a celebrant. At the time, I had no real idea what that entailed.

She worked alongside our family, to understand our needs and create the ceremony. We chose the music, hymns and poems, to reflect Mum perfectly.

She gently supported us in the days leading up to the funeral, speaking to the funeral director and crematorium, to make sure everything went smoothly on the day. Afterwards, I remember so many people telling me how personal and uplifting they found the ceremony, and that they would want something similar for themselves and their loved ones.

Through this experience, I discovered a genuine desire to help others in the same way, by offering a service that helped my family so much, at a time when we needed it most.

Since then, I have helped hundreds of families to say goodbye to their loved ones in a way that suits them – which is different for everyone. I feel truly blessed to do what I do, and never forget just what a privilege it is to do this role.

In my personal life, my partner and I are the devoted mummy and daddy to our amazing 4 year old little boy. As a family we enjoy music festivals, love the outdoors, and are avid supporters of our local football team. I am also an occasional triathlete.
